Boxes boxes boxes

Aaarch, the packing process has started. Of course we started rather late (a week in advance), but o well.... I'm not stressed yet :-)

I can't believe how much stuff we have, it's ridiculous. Trying to throw away a lot, but as always it's difficult. Maybe you could use it again, or maybe it's practical for the gîtes... Ugh!

We'll just slowly move on and pack everything. We ordered 60 boxes, but they are almost full now! I just ordered 45 more boxes....

Okay I have to get going again LOL

Poor Milky

Also our cats have got to get ready for the move. They need all their shots, an extra rabies shot, a chip and an 'European Passport' (I'm not kidding!).

Milky has had a strange bump on her back that gets filled with fluid. We've had it sucked empty a few times now, and it's not harmful, but it comes back every time.

We discussed it with the vet, and he proposed to cut the bump out. Friday she was operated, but we did not expect it to be such a big scar! She came home still totally groggy from the anaesthetic. She had to wear a collar for 10 days, but she was so pitiful, we took it off after a day. Really sad, the first day she crawled underneath the couch (I don't know how with the collar, but she did) and did not come out all day. She did not eat or drink. So we took it off and because she can't reach the scar, I think she will be all right.

My goodbyes have started

About 2 weeks until the move, so it's starting to come close.

Friday night I went to a Thai restaurant with 7 of my ex-colleagues from my consulting days. I consider it very special that we still have a great connection after a couple of years.

I drove to André and together we picked up Lilian & Bart. We already had a lot of fun in the car :-). In Zwolle we met Aleid, Lara & Carolien at the restaurant. Unfortunately due to circumstances Patrick & Mariska couldn't make it.

I've never had Thai food before, but it was really delicious. Not too spicy at all. Lots of veggies. We chose the 'surprise' menu and had a lot of little dishes. Loved it! Great atmosphere in this restaurant. If you are ever in Zwolle: try this one.

So the food AND the company was great. We don't see eachother often, so it's interesting to catch up with everything that has been going on in our lives. I'm going to miss them and I hope that the next dinner can be scheduled in the period we'll be back in Holland!

Writing

It's time to write the moving cards... We combined it with our wishes for 2008. It feels very weird. Like it's really definite. Can't go back now! LOL not that I would want to, but it's getting really really close now...

Aaaaaaaaaaarchhhhh. Panic attack! No, don't worry I'll be fine :-)

We looked at the calender and will move either January 21st of 22nd. Less than 3 weeks to go!

Flower Power

For our gîtes-to-be we have chosen a 'flower-theme'. Each gîte has the name of a flower and for the inside we try to take that theme as far as we can.

Yesterday I went on a shopping spree for bed covers (what's the right word?) LOL and I found quite a bit! I found very cute ones for the Rose gîte, the Tulip gîte, the Sunflower gîte and the Daisy gîte! Can't wait till they get here :-)

If any of you find any other flower-bed-covers somewhere (preferably cheap LOL): let me know!!!

Also if you see plates/cups etc with a flower design. Or window drapes, anything!

My Surreal New Years Eve

- HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE -

Wow this New Years Eve was surreal!

It started out great. We went to Ina & Harm-Heiko, where Margriet & René also already were. We had so much fun! They had found an old movie from 1994 when we went skiing with 9 friends. We laughed so hard, tears ran over my face. A very nice trip down memory lane.

We then went to Menno to celebrate the beginning of 2008. On the road it was already extremely foggy, but on the highway it was doable. We arrived a few minutes before midnight, wished everyone Happy New Year and then went together to a New Years Party (Sjonnie, Menno, Doorke, Zwik, Chris, Ida). This party was supposedly sold out... but... there was NOONE...! And it was freaking cold, so cold, we were freezing. We drank and danced to get warm, music was actually pretty good, but there were maybe 40 people in the whole building!

We left around 3 am but when we got outside the fog had gotten worse and it was surreal: it was so foggy, you could not see 1 meter before you! It was so weird, people appearing in the nebula, it was like a war zone with all the bonfires and people screaming outside. It was anarchy, I've never seen anything like it.

I was the designated driver, but when we got to the car, it was still so foggy, so scary. I tried to drive, but you really could see nothing! You couldn't see the stripes on the road, unbelievable. After a few km's with our heads outside the window to see where the freaking road was, we parked it and waited for almost 3 hours. Got home at 7 am, sooooo tired.

Obviously not the best New Years Eve ever LOL
